PROBLEM: There is a need for designing a better human-digital interface to make scholarly research easier by integrating automatic reference searching, citing and annotating with writing.

SOLUTION: The work describes an adaptive knowledge building system for scientific writing based on a content-based guidance system by leveraging search engine connected directly to word processing. The algorithm is biologically inspired in that the pluripotent property of stem cells is applied to realizing the pluripotency of scientific information design, where knowledge building starts from a single word, and progressive automatic searching and cumulative updating generate a specific concept.
